Rune Technologies: Propelling Modern Military Logistics into the Future

In today's rapidly evolving defense landscape, efficient logistics are paramount to mission success. Yet, many military operations still rely on outdated methods, with critical tasks managed through analog tools like whiteboards and spreadsheets. This antiquated approach hampers real-time decision-making and reduces responsiveness in dynamic combat scenarios.

As we've seen with Anduril, TurbineOne, Forterra, and others in the portfolio, modern military engagements are increasingly complex and dispersed. Traditional centralized logistics systems struggle to adapt to the fluidity of contemporary battlefields, leading to potential resource shortages and mission vulnerabilities. The Department of Defense has recognized this gap, emphasizing the need for "precision logistics"—layered, agile, and responsive support in contested environments. It goes without saying that this transformation is becoming highly software-driven.

To tackle these challenges head-on, David Tuttle, formerly Anduril's Capabilities Lead for C4 Systems, and Peter Goldsborough, Anduril's former Chief Engineer for Army Command & Control, founded Rune Technologies. Rune is a next-generation logistics platform designed to modernize sustainment operations and enhance battlefield efficiency. The company is revolutionizing military logistics with advanced tracking and supply chain visibility, particularly suited for contested regions like the South China Sea. Their first product, TyrOS, provides:

  • Enhanced Situational Awareness: Real-time tracking of resources and movements within the operational theater.

  • Predictive Analytics: Anticipating resource consumption and availability to preempt shortages.

  • Automated Planning: Streamlining load and supply logistics to ensure timely delivery across the battlefield.

In a world of rapidly evolving battlefields, solving military logistics challenges requires founders who are both deeply grounded in the mission and highly skilled in developing cutting-edge technology. David and Peter embody these qualities. Their time working together at Anduril, combined with David's operational background as a JSOC Officer, ensures Rune delivers solutions that are both technologically sophisticated and precisely aligned with warfighters' needs.

We are thrilled to be on this journey with them as they announce a $6 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz and Point72, along with a group of fantastic angel investors, including our good friend Gokul Subramanian (SVP of Engineering at Anduril).

Rune is poised to redefine military logistics, transforming them from static, reactive processes into dynamic, predictive systems. With their innovative approach and experienced leadership, they are set to enhance the operational effectiveness of our armed forces in the face of evolving global threats.
